A Major Addition to Virginia’s Gaming Scene
Caesars Entertainment has officially opened its state-of-the-art casino in Danville, Virginia. Among its many attractions is a stunning 21-table WSOP-branded poker room, designed to cater to poker enthusiasts in the region. The new casino, located just north of the Virginia-North Carolina border, welcomed large crowds on its debut day, according to local media reports.
The casino complex features a 320-room luxury hotel, 12 restaurants and bars, and 100,000 square feet of gaming space. This expansive area includes 1,500 slot machines, 79 table games, and a standalone sportsbook. The poker room stands as a centerpiece of the venue, promising a top-tier experience for players of all skill levels.
$650 Million Investment Brings Caesars to Danville
The opening marks the fulfillment of Caesars’ commitment to launch its Danville casino in 2024. Construction began in August 2022 and was completed at a cost of $650 million. The project was developed in collaboration with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, who also serve as Caesars’ licensing partner in neighboring North Carolina.
Poker Tournaments on the Horizon
While the WSOP poker room is already hosting cash games, tournament offerings are still in the planning stages. The casino’s poker-room page currently lacks a schedule for these events, but daily tournaments are expected to roll out by early 2025.
What remains unclear is whether Caesars Virginia will host a WSOP Circuit stop. Harrah’s Cherokee, a short four-hour drive from Danville, is one of the WSOP Circuit’s most popular locations. Its well-established series draws large crowds and utilizes its extensive conference-room space.
Despite this proximity, Caesars Virginia’s location is strategically closer to the populous Atlantic Coast corridor, an area with limited access to live poker. This makes it a strong contender for its own significant WSOP events in the near future.
A New Era for Poker in the Region
As traffic builds and tournaments launch, Caesars Virginia is set to become a key destination for poker players in the southern and eastern United States. With its stylish WSOP branding, prime location, and luxurious amenities, the Danville casino offers a fresh chapter for live poker in the region.
